Another Friday nite hit up at Canberra for the boys from Yass was awesome. John met us over there as did Tony who both now work in the big smoke…. Ryan, Hilly and first timers Josh and Levi joined myself in the Ridin Bus to Canberra. Hyped on Redbull at bargain rates from Woolworths we were off to meet the others at Belco for a start.
Two seconds into it and Josh is at the bottom of the bowl at Belco which is a dirty big hole in the ground that is at least 13 foot. He managed to get out ok but it set the tone for his efforts all nite. If it was around it must be ridden. John was throwing 180’s off the half spine and rolling out sweet…poor camera work meant he had to do it 40 times. The others found the spine and played on it whilst Levi and myself were happy to just get rolling. John and Josh went for the proper half pipe and made a good shot at it. John was sitting up top for a fair while and apart from thinking he was going to die I admired his guts to think to drop it. So over vert I would even think it at this point but John bailed in the end and left it for another day.
Where to next?…Civic was the plan. Not a bad idea as it turned out. Pretty quiet when we turned up and there was heaps to do. The place was pretty clean considering they are always building near it and closing it every other day. Simple things but Civic has to have the best fly at and everyone launched. Hilly went a bit high at one point and came off a 360 attempt backwards. If he had stuck it was going to be 1080 or something. John was playing some neat manual x stuff around the skater area and Josh and Ryan fell in love with the hip. For me the hip is cool but not much to run in into after.

Stomachs rumbled and John took us to his restaurant in Civic….has to have part shares in Macca’s by now for sure. On the way some crazy stuff with a huge ass Hummer getting around with a giant Kit-Kat on it. As we were leaving the park down the walkway that is enclosed by the construction area, we ran into two lovely young ladies. We photo’ed them and they photo’ed us and free Kit Kats for everyone….thanks Guys and Gals. Josh was the favourite of the girls for sure…check the crazy photo.

Tuggers was the final resting place for the night and the excitement level was still high. John had to bail with work early in the morning but he had a fat time. Good to catch up with for a ride. Hello too to the guy who’s name I missed who is the keeper of a few RidinBmx stickers. Nice guy and great with a stall considering he broke his chain. Check the picture below.

Josh owned Tuggers with an out of nowhere run over the spine. Very impressive since no-one else had stepped up. Pressure was on for Hilly who was staring at it like he was going to have it. Long story short and the both of them were looping around the Park like they were locals. Hilly was whipping it over and getting so much speed the on next tranny he was getting launched. Awesome stuff and well done to them both. Make sure to check the vids of Josh’s first few attempts.
Levi and I were happy on the boxes and mini but Josh and Ryan showed the way on the box manual…they were fun. Oh yeah did I say Josh jumped out of the 10 foot Half Pipe. To think his Mum made sure to ask me that he wouldn’t be encouraged to try anything to hard…..sheesh he showed us the way. Had to feel sorry for Ryan though. He could have had the spine easy but he is generally slow to get going and freaks a little. As we were leaving I thought he would do it but he was smart enough to save it for another day. Anyhoo a mad nite and I really enjoyed it. Heaps of Photos in the gallery and some new Vids as well.

PS If you live in Canberra look out for a green Hyundai Excel that is all beat up. It’s Tony and he is the worst driver I have ever seen. Almost had him bagging it up at the Police Station at Tuggers after a wrong turn. It would have had to be the only set of lights he didn’t bag it up at. No offence Tony and thanks for ridin with us.
